The Flash is Worth Obsessing Over

Two words - The Flash!

The Flash is my summer obsession. I loved it while it was airing in the fall, but in it's absence I have grown obsessed with the show. There are just so many things to love, and I will try to mention as many things as I can about those lovable things.

The first thing I will mention is Barry Allen because he is the star of the show. He is the most lovable main character I think I have ever witnessed on television. A lot of times secondary characters over-shadow main characters, but this is not that show. Barry Allen is The Flash, and both of his personas are incredibly entertaining and quirky. Barry Allen is still always late, as he was in Arrow, and is still 'adorkable' as the kids say. He is funny, sweet, smart, and well dressed. Last but not least Barry Allen is a hero.

The secondary characters are amazing! Papa Joe, Caitlin Snow, and Cisco are all lovable. Captain Cold is also the best bad guy on TV right now.

You can clearly see how much Detective Joe West loves his kids, and he is a hero in his own right. His only character flaw is not knowing where to draw the line when it come to being over-protective Papa Bear.

Caitlin is not my favorite character, but the fans love her and she does have great lines! Her chemistry with Barry Allen is cute, but I'm definitely a (Here comes a shipper name) Firestorm kind of girl (Here comes another shipper name) not a SnowBarry fan. Caitlin is like the Mother Hen to a 'prone to accidents' Barry Allen.

Cisco is so adorable! I relate the most with his movie obsession, being a Cinema/Television major in school. His nod to Buster Keaton's brilliance is much appreciated. There is an abundance of good writing for his character. He loves candy, has a love/hate relationship with his brother, and he comes up with all the cool comic book code names for the good guys and bad guys alike. Ya gotta love Cisco! He's the squealing fangirl/fanboy in all of us.

Next and most debate worthy is the character of Iris West. People don't like her. The fans don't like her.

 I LOVE her.

Next to Barry Allen, Iris West is my favorite character and I have plenty of reasons to love her. She is a funny, smart, fashionista with a blog. She does not take no for an answer. I love her love of life, and I love that she's pretty fearless and fierce. The one character flaw that I have seen is a writing error in episode 15. It was still an amazing plot had it not been  completely inconsistent with Iris' morality in the show, which I don't appreciate. (SPOILER ALERT) Hello, Iris would not cheat on Eddie!

(It still was a pretty cool/ amazing plot and visually well shot. Good tones. Good flares. Don't get me started about the zooming and camera movement - can you see the hearts in my eyes?)

The writers bend her character around Barry instead of giving her her own goals in the show, which is not cool. However, I think her gumption far out ways her breaking Barry's heart.  The writer's do need to tweak her a bit. I have some ideas if they'd only ask me *wink*wink*

The effects are incredible! Every city shot of the superhero in action are different from each other, which is amazing!

Last, but not least: WARDROBE

The fashion on The Flash  is drool worthy, and I even bought myself one of the dresses Iris West wears in the Flash/Arrow crossover episode.

The wardrobe department deserves a medal. Every character has their own style. Caitlin is not like Iris, and their outfits show that clearly. However, both women have  jackets that Felicity Smoak has worn in Arrow. (Yes, the clothes crossover, too.) Besides, the characters from The Flash both love Felicity, and that makes sense because who doesn't, so naturally they would have something in common via style? All the women on this show are different and their styles are distinct.
Barry Allen's clothes are perfect, too, for your information.
End of fashion rant! (Check out http://wornontv.net/the-flash/ if you love their fashion, too.)

Relatable Note:  October 6th can't come fast enough with the second season!

The Verdict: The Flash is worth obsessing over.
